Basically pen and paper.
There are a few brands I like:
- Faber Castell
- Caran d’Ache
- Cretacolor
- Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth
I use white pastel, sometimes chalk, charcoal in all the hardness-es they can possibly come in, all pencils really as I use them only to quickly and faintly outline my compositions of the drawing. However, if I decide to do a pencil drawing, than there is no other than my beloved Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth mechanical clutch leadholder (if I am not mistaken mine is 5.6 mm). The weight and heft of a bull of a pencil is just such a drawing experience.
I don’t have a preferred brand of paper as of yet. It is usually something that resembles more like cardboard with >200gsm. Mostly black or hand-made paper. Who doesn’t love the rough texture of these kind of papers.
But the most important tool I could never do without are paperstumps or tortillions (millions of them, I owe).
